- Revocation of Renardine 72-2 (MAFF 06769)
21 July 2005: As of 30 June 2005, the approval for the storage and use of Renardine 72-2 (MAFF 06769) was revoked. There is now no current UK approval for the sale, supply, advertisement, storage or use of Renardine 72-2. - Re-Registration Conference 2005

20 October 2005: On Thursday 6th October at Aylesbury Magistrates Court, a distributor was fined £1800 and ordered to pay £3000 costs after pleading guilty to illegally importing an unapproved pesticide into the UK. - WEBFRAM Stakeholders Forum, at the Central Science Laboratory

2 November 2005: The Pesticide Residues Committee ( PRC) oversees a Government programme to monitor the UK food and drink supply for pesticide residues. Details of the proposed 2004 programme are attached. - Edible Crop Extrapolations under The Long-Term Arrangements for Extension of Use to be transferred to Specific Off-Label Approvals
03 November 2005: To prevent the Maximum Residues Levels (MRLs) programme closing off a large number of uses granted under the Long Term Arrangements for Extension of Use (LTAEU), they are being converted to formal authorisations. 17 November 2005: New guidance on environmental hazard and risk labelling for Plant Protection Products in the UK has been issued. 9 February 2006: This Update announces the new way PSD will ask for labels for all products approved under the Plant Protection Products Regulations and Control of Pesticides Regulations. It explains the new system and provides guidance on how to submit labels. - Updated Code of Practice for Using Plant Protection Products
13 February 2006: The updated Code of Practice for Using Plant Protection Products is for all professional users of plant protection products in England and Wales. It replaces three previous codes of practice from 15 December 2005: The Green Code, the orange code and parts of the Blue Code. - PSD To No Longer Carry Out Certain Types Of Label Check
23 February 2006: PSD will no longer carry out label checks for Parallel Import Applications. This Update explains the new system and provides guidance for applicants. It also describes changes to PSD label procedures for identical products (administrative 'back-to-backs'). - Guidance Concerning The Approval Of Commodity Chemicals Including Sulphuric Acid As Pesticides
7 March 2006: This update will be of interest to manufacturers and users of commodity chemicals, including sulphuric acid. If and when these chemicals are listed on Annex 1 of European Community (EC) Regulation 91/414, it will be necessary for you to seek an approval to continue to use them as a pesticide. - Parallel Import Procedures Operated in the EU for Pesticide Products

04 April 2006: It has come to our attention that a number of products are currently being marketed containing pheromones or other attractants. 11 April 2006: PSD have commissioned a series of trials to investigate reports of declining effect of triazoles against Septoria tritici. 30 January 2008: Two leaflets on ‘The Good Neighbour Initiative’, published in November 2006 by the National Farmers Union ( NFU), are now available on our website. These leaflets contain advice on best practice and guidance on addressing neighbours' concerns for farmers and operators spraying pesticides near to residential areas. - Implementation of the Proposals for the Reduction in Risk from Nonylphenol, Octylphenol and their Ethoxylates.

15 August 2006: An investigation by Defra and the Norfolk constabulary into the death of two buzzards has led to a successful prosecution under the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 for an offence relating to the use of pesticides - Revision of guidance for import tolerance applications

15 June 2007: On 13 June 2007 at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Mr John Rawlings was found guilty on three counts of illegally storing foreign pesticides, the jury were unable to reach a decision on a further 11 counts of illegal storage.[amended 05/10/2007 ] - Aphid Resistance Alert
21 June 2007: IRAG Resistance Alert - insecticide-resistant peach-potato aphids on potatoes: So far in 2007 Peach-potato aphids (Myzus persicae) have been caught in unprecedented numbers. IRAG have published advice on insecticide use for this season. - Efficacy Guidelines
26 June 2007: New Efficacy guideline 607 - Insecticide mixture: justification for use and implications for resistance management in the United Kingdom. Currently there are very few professional insecticides containing more than one active substance. However there is now increased commercial interest in developing insecticide mixture products, PSD have drafted new guidance on submissions for these. - Annual Report 2006/07 News Release
26 June 2007: We have published our Annual Report & Accounts 2006-07, which details our performance against targets set by ministers.
