Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. How do I dispose of my pesticides and their containers?

You must not store or use a pesticide if it is no longer approved.

It is illegal to put pesticides or their wastes down drains, sinks or lavatories because of the risk of contaminating water sources.

You can get information about disposing pesticides from your local council or county council. They will be able to advise you which household waste sites can take garden chemicals, or whether they have any special arrangements for the collecting and disposing of hazardous household waste. You should be able to find a contact number in the phone book.

The Pesticide Action Network website provides details of civic amenity sites and collection services.
