Background

CRD been informed by a manufacturer of the ethoxylated tallow amine products (TAM-EO) within the range of 10 to 20 EO with CAS number 61791-26-2 that, due to a new acute inhalation study, the classification for these products has changed to include the risk phrase R23 ‘Toxic by inhalation’. The products affected are:

PRODUCTO K-20

These products are commonly used as co-formulants in products that contain glyphosate but are also used in some adjuvant products.

The manufacturer has informed CRD that this information has been relayed to its customers.

What do I need to do?

If your product contains any of the above tallow amine products you should take into consideration this change and how it affects the overall classification of your product. You should amend your product label and Material Safety Data Sheet to reflect the new classification where necessary and at the earliest opportunity. If the change in classification for your product is sufficient to affect the labelling phrases or risk assessment e.g. increased personal protective equipment (PPE) is required then you must submit an application to CRD via the applications sift applications@hse.gsi.gov.uk explaining the change in classification and how it affects the label phrases and risks to operators, including any proposed changes to the PPE .
