Replacement of Application Handbook with the Applicant Guide

Since it was launched a few years ago, our Application Handbook became a major source of guidance for applicants submitting applications to PSD. However, we recognised that unless you are were familiar with its structure, it could be difficult to find your way around and locate the information you need.

With this in mind, we developed a new Applicant Guide to replace the Handbook, incorporating a number of improvements. The new guide is:

  • Easier to follow. All you need to know about making an application to CRD (PSD became part of CRD in April 2009)- from information on when you need to submit one, to what you will need to provide, how much it will cost and when you will get your approval - can be accessed from the Applicant Guide itself.
  • Easier to navigate. The Applicant Guide links to separate Web pages providing guidance on particular subject areas. If you already know what you are looking for you can go straight to the relevant guidance.
  • Easier to read. We have taken out lots of the repetition and have made better use of Plain English. We have also used clear headings to help you find the information you need.
  • Easier to access. By making the Guide available in Web page format, we have made it quicker to access and more user friendly. It will also be easier for us to keep up-to-date.

Where is the new Applicant Guide on the PSD Website?

You can access the Applicant Guide and associated guidance documents by going to the Applicant Advice section of the website. The guidance documents detail information on

Adjuvants,

Experimental approvals,

Off-label approvals,

Parallel imports and

Re-registration as well as a range of other topics.
