Background and Further Information
Replacing the Long Term Arrangements for Extension of Use: Edible Crops
This Update advises of progress in the exercise to replace the LTAEU.
Regulatory Update 14/2004 advised that it has become clear that the LTAEU are not compatible with the Authorisations Directive 91/414/EEC and procedures for setting maximum residue levels (MRLs). We consulted key industry stakeholders and concluded that the best and most cost effective way of protecting access to treatments on edible crops currently granted by virtue of their inclusion in the LTAEU is by converting uses to SOLAs.
