Current consultations, with closing date

• Consultation on Streamlining Chemical Regulations: The HSE is inviting comments on proposals to update and simplify the domestic regulations which support EU legislation on Biocides, Export and Import of Hazardous Chemicals (PIC) and Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (CLP) Regulations. This consultation closes on 31 January 2013.

Closed consultations

Non-formal consultation on the proposal to routinely publish Registration Reports for plant protection products on the CRD website. This consultation closed on 8 June 2012.

• Non-Formal consultation on the proposal to publish the name of the UK reference products for parallel trade plant protection products.This consultation closed on 25 November 2011.
• Consultation on the Implementation of EU Pesticides legislation. The closing date for this consultation was 4 May 2010 (On 10 and 11 March 2010 Dan Norris and representatives of Defra and CRD met with three key stakeholder groups to hear their views on the consultation Link to notes of meetings ).
• Consultation on Pesticide Usage Surveys in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. PSD (which became part of CRD on 01/05/2009) announces that they have prepared a consultation document to collect your views on arrangements for the collection of information relating to the use of pesticides. The closing date for this consultation is 27 May 2009.
• Consultation on the Proposed Consolidation of Plant Protection and Pesticide Legislation, Consultation on the Repeal of the Farm & Garden Chemicals Act and Associated Regulations. The closing date for this consultation is 19 May 2008.
• Consultation on the Review of the Charging structure for Pesticides Consultation on proposed changes to PSD fees for services. The closing date for this consultation is 9 May 2008.
• Inclusion of Regulation on Record Keeping in Draft Regulations The closing date for this consultation was 30 November 2007.
• Consultation on the Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products: Revised and updated draft National Strategy The closing date for this consultation was 1st October 2007.
• Consultation on Thematic Strategy for Pesticides: Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council Concerning Statistics on Plant Protection Products. The closing date for this consultation was 24th July 2007.
• Consultation on Thematic Strategy for Pesticides: proposals for a Directive on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides and a Regulation on Pesticide Authorisations. The closing date was 11 December 2006
• Consultation on proposed changes to PSD fees for services. Issued to all approval holders and interested parties. The closing date was 30 October 2006
• Proposed amendment to the Code of Practice for using plant protection products: paragraph 3.7.4. The closing date was 28 July 2006
• Consultation on the Government’s proposals for the handling of derogation applications under articles 5 and 6 of Regulation (EC) NO 648/2004 on detergents. The closing date was 22 February 2006.
• A National Strategy for the Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products. The closing date was 30 June 2005
• Consultation on the revised code of practice for the safe use of Plant Protection Products. The closing date was 30 July 2004

About consultation exercises

Consultation exercises normally begin with publication of a consultation paper in which we invite comment from stakeholders on a policy issue, legislative or other proposal.

Consultations are carried out in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Practice on Written Consultation. The consultation period will normally last a minimum of 12 weeks, although there are circumstances in which shorter consultations will be unavoidable (e.g. where tight timescales are dictated by European Union processes). A draft Regulatory Impact Assessment will be included as part of the consultation where proposals may create burdens for business.

Once the deadline has passed, the consultation closes, and the comments received are carefully considered in developing policies, plans for legislation etc. After this stage, the comments are made publicly available for six months as consultation responses.
