Introduction
The sub-group was set up by the Pesticides Forum in 2000 to recommend a range of indicators that could be developed to reflect the success or otherwise of the Forum in achieving its aim of promoting responsible pesticide use.
The sub-group published a report in 2001 in which it made more than 60 recommendations. Nine of these were adopted more or less straightaway. The Forum agreed to help develop a further fourteen and asked or alerted various other parties as to the desirability of developing the rest. Subsequently the Forum agreed to adopt several more indicators, which were included in the later Annual Reports.
The 2007 version of the Indicators Report has a new format and includes several new indicators. This reflects the structure of the UK Pesticides Strategy and will enable the Indicators Group to monitor its progress.
Indicators Report
Since 2004, the Pesticides Forum has produced an annual 'Report of Indicators reflecting the Impacts of Pesticide Use'.
The report gives a full update on indicators adopted by the Forum, to reflect the progress made in encouraging farmers and growers to minimise their use of pesticides.
