Biological Assessment Dossier Training Workshop Wednesday13th October, 2010

CRD will be holding a workshop on the preparation of Biological Assessment Dossiers on Wednesday 13th October, 2010. The day will start at 9.30 am and finish around 4.30 pm. The events will be held at our conference facilities in York. The cost per delegate is £325 (plus 17.5% VAT).

The course will provide an overview of all aspects of writing efficacy dossiers to address European efficacy data requirements (Plant Protection Products Regulations (PPPR)). There will also be brief reference to use of draft registration reports and future issues under the new regulation (EC 1107/2009) affecting efficacy. The morning will cover general dossier preparation and data requirements to support all types of product registrations. The afternoon will provide specific advice on the requirements and preparation of re-registration and mutual recognition application.

The aim of the course is to enable attendees to minimise the costs of data generation, maximise the potential to use existing data and to extrapolate from these, and know how best to summarise and present the information to ensure an efficient evaluation by CRD.

The workshop is now FULL. If you would like to be added to the waiting list for future workshops please contact our events team (details provided below). You will then be informed of when the training workshop is scheduled.

Workshop on Regulatory Environmental Exposure Assessments for Pesticides on Hard Surfaces using the ‘HardSPEC’ model. Tuesday 9th November, 2010

The Chemicals Regulation Directorate (formerly Pesticides Safety Directorate) introduced new methodology in 2004 for conducting regulatory environmental risk assessments for pesticides used on hard surfaces. The methodology uses a model, ‘HardSPEC’, for predicting concentrations of pesticides in surface water and groundwater which can be used in subsequent regulatory risk assessments. Since its introduction, HardSPEC has undergone some changes and there has been a continued programme of development.

A training workshop will be held to introduce new users to the model and to update more experienced users.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 9th November at Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, UK. If you would like to attend the workshop, please could you express your interest by contacting Dr Mick Whelan at Cranfield University (email address: m.j.whelan@cranfield.ac.uk; postal address: Dr Mick Whelan, Building 53, Cranfield University, College Road, Cranfield, Beds, MK43 0AL, UK) by Friday 8th October at the latest.

Please note that the number of places on the workshop will be limited. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Bespoke Training for Individual Organisations

In addition to organising our general training programme, CRD also offers bespoke training for individual organisations on both technical and procedural matters. The main benefit to the delivery of bespoke training is that the training is specifically tailored to meet your organisation’s individual needs and enables you to address specific problem areas that are relevant to your organisation. This training can be delivered at CRD's offices in York, or at a location of your choice.

CRD has previously organised the following bespoke training events for various organisations and Member States:

  • Co-ordination & Procedures
  • Physical/Chemical Properties
  • Fate & Behaviour
  • Ecotoxicology
  • Consumer Risk Assessment & Residues
  • Operator Exposure
  • Biological Assessment Dossier (BAD)

If you would be interested in discussing the possibility of CRD providing your organisation with a tailor-made training programme, or if you would simply like us to deliver an existing training programme at your office, please contact Jon Winfield by emailing jon.winfield@hse.gsi.gov.uk or by calling + 44 (0) 1904 455748.

In accordance with our financial remit, CRD has to recover costs for the work it delivers. Consequently, a charge would have to be made for the preparation and delivery of the training, and any associated travel and subsistence costs.

Please note that CRD will not be able to provide advice on specific application work as part of the bespoke service. Such queries should be dealt with in the usual manner.
