Membership of The Advisory Committee on Pesticides: 1 January 2006

Chairman

Professor Jon Ayres is Professor of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the Liberty Safe Work Research Centre in Aberdeen. This is his first year as Chairman.

Deputy Chairman

Professor Robert Smith is a Professor of Biology at the University of Leicester and has been a member of the Committee for five years and Deputy Chairman for three years.

Members

Dr John Cherrie is an Occupational Hygienist at the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Edinburgh and Honorary Reader at the University of Aberdeen. He has been a member of the Committee for three years.

Mr James Clarke is Science and Business Development Manager of ADAS Sustainable Crop Management at ADAS. He has been a member of the Committee for three years.

Dr Richard (Charlie) Clutterbuck is an Honorary Visiting Fellow in the Department of Health Management and Food Policy, City University London and has been a member of the Committee for three years. 

Professor David Colman is Professor of Agricultural Economics in the School of Social Sciences at The University of Manchester, and has been a member of the committee for one year.   

Dr Clifford Elcombe is a Senior Lecturer, (toxicologist) at the Biomedical Research Centre, Dundee University and has been a member of the Committee for four years.

Dr Ian Grieve is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Environment Science at the University of Stirling has been a member of the Committee for five years.

Professor Gabrielle Hawksworth is a Professor of Molecular Toxicology at The University of Aberdeen, and has been a member for one year.

Professor Charles Vyvyan Howard is a Senior Lecturer, (medical toxico-pathologist) in the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Liverpool and has been a member of the Committee for three years.

Ms Rosaline Howell is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental and Geographical Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University and has been a member of the Committee for two years.

Dr Alastair Leake is Head of The Game Conservancy Trust’s Allerton Project in Loddington, Leicestershire and has been a member of the Committee for one year.

Professor Lorraine Maltby is Professor of Environment Biology at The University of Sheffield and has been a member of the Committee for three years.

Ms Diane McCrea is an independent consultant in food and consumer affairs and has been a member of the Committee for two years.

Dr Patricia McElhatton is Director of the National Teratology Information Service in Newcastle upon Tyne and has been a member of the Committee for six years.

Dr Martin McPherson is a Technical Director at Crop Protection Services, Stockbridge Technology Centre in Selby, and has been a member of the Committee for one year.

Dr Daniel Osborn is Science Director for the Sustainable Economies Programme of the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and has been a member of the Committee for three years.

Dr Huw Rees is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow, School of Pharmacology, Therapeutics & Toxicology, Cardiff University.  This is his first year on the committee.

Dr Vinod Tohani is a Consultant in Public Health Medicine/Consultant in Communicable Disease Control at the Southern Health Board in Armagh, Northern Ireland and has been a member of the Committee for four years.

Dr Rosemary Waring is a Reader in human toxicology at the School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham and has been a member of the Committee for three years.
