  • Regulatory update - retaking decisions on plant protection products – August 2010
    13 August 2010: The Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) has identified a technical legal problem with decisions taken in relation to plant protection products between 1 April 2008 and 2 December 2009. The problem is one of formality rather than substance.There are no health or safety implications and there is no requirement for manufacturers, suppliers or users of products to take any action.
  • New OECD Test Guidelines
    05 August 2010: This Regulatory Update gives information about a number of new and revised OECD guidelines for the testing of chemicals for human health effects.
  • Biological Assessment Dossier Training Workshop Wednesday 13th October, 2010
    03 August 2010: CRD will be holding a workshop on the preparation of Biological Assessment Dossiers on Wednesday 13 October, 2010.   The aim of the course is to enable attendees to minimise the costs of data generation, maximise the potential to use existing data and to extrapolate from these, and know how best to summarise and present the information to ensure an efficient evaluation by CRD.  
  • Re-registration Requirements Following Further Annex I Inclusion Decisions: July 2010
    27 July 2010: This Regulatory Update announces the Re-registration requirements following further Annex I Inclusion Decisions and gives details of various documents relating to other active substances which are now available.
  • HardSPEC model workshop
    22 July 2010: A training workshop will be held on Tues. 9 November at Cranfield University to introduce new users to the 'HardSPEC' model and to update more experienced users. This model is used by CRD for predicting concentrations of pesticides in surface water and groundwater which can be used in regulatory risk assessments.
  • Reg Update - UK guidance on efficacy zonal assessments and using draft registration reports (dRR)
    12 July 2010: There are various new developments affecting the way in which efficacy evaluations for plant protection products are conducted, both now and in the future.  This Regulatory Update is to provide clarification on how these initiatives and changes in the regulatory framework affect efficacy submissions to the UK.     
  • Workshop on Ecotoxicological Risk Assessment for Plant Protection Products
    12 July 2010: CRD is proposing to host a one-day workshop in York on Tuesday 2 November 2010 which will provide an introduction and overview to areas of ecotoxicological risk assessments.  The workshop will be targeted towards registration specialists involved in the preparation and submission of Plant Protection Product dossiers to CRD.  
  • Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) and 2-phenylphenol, safeners and synergists
    08 July 2010: This is a replacement for  Information Update 25/2008 (issued on 20 November 2008) and updated on 16 April 2010. 2-phenylphenol (safeners and synergists) are not currently subject to MRLs under Regulation 396/2005. However, this situation will change in the future.  
  • One day conference on Regulation 1107/2009 - 19 October 2010
    6 July 2010: This Information Update announces a one day conference on the implementation of Regulation 1107/2009.  The event will provide an update on the implementation of the new Plant Protection Products Regulation.  The conference will be held at the National Science Learning Centre at the University of York on Tuesday 19th October, 2010.
